If the dates are correct in her diary--Jennifer didn't write again until April. Her entries are sporadic at the age of 8 and 9. They really pick up around age 10. It won't be long until we're there and you will read more from her and less from me. At this age, she wrote so little, I've had to do quite a bit of research to fill in the gaps.

"We won our first soccer game. The score was 9-0."
Jennifer was playing soccer in Colorado at the time of these entries. I found a photo of her in California. Check out the short shorts and the knee pads!! You just can't improve on the past (and why did they require knee pads--oh yeah--rec league :)

"Today I got out my old-fashioned dolls and played with them. I won my soccer game. The score was 7-2."
I guess in Colorado, soccer was a spring sport (or her dates are wrong. My daughter is 8 and only knows the correct month when its time for her birthday). Jennifer was not very good at soccer. She liked to play defense. She was always on a good team and that left defense with a lot of time to chat--which is what she did. She liked to talk with her best friend and fuss with her knee pads--she remembers that. She didn't exactly throw herself in front of aggressive forwards--why bother? A few goals never hurt her team!
Of course, Jennifer skied. That's been established. She rode horses. She played soccer and she did gymnastics.
Jennifer lacked confidence. That was her problem with sports and with her life (as you will see...)
